Lower East Side - A Day for a Couple

The Lower East Side (LES) is a great spot to explore on the weekend. If you haven't been lately, you'll probably discover something new since it changes so often. Here are a few suggestions to get you started. As with any day spent as a couple, we recommend going long on the eating and drinking and short on the shopping.

Eat

    1. Prune, 51 East 1st Avenue - 9 types of bloodys and one of the best brunches in town
    2. Freeman's Alley (in Freeman’s Alley; duh) – a brunch spot with an exclusive vibe
    3. Katz' Deli, 205 E. Houston St. – the best deli in a city know for its delis
    4. Schiller's Liquor Bar, 131 Rivington – a good spot for a mid-day bite/drink

Shop

    1. Alife Rivington Club, 158 Rivington – the inner sanctum of sneaker heaven
    2. Las Venus, 163 Ludlow – if George & Jane Jetson needed furniture, they'd shop here
    3. Foley and Corinna, 114 Stanton (women's); 143 Ludlow (men's) – chic vintage clothes
    4. 20 Peacocks, 20 Clinton – luxurious Italian shirts and ties for him; let her pick the colors
    5. Babeland, 94 Rivington – buy sex toys with minimal embarrassment and maximum fun

Do

    1. Economy Candy, 108 Rivington – for her: mary jane's; for him: vintage baseball cards
    2. The Pickle Guys, 46 Essex – a joke and a pickle for only a nickel (give or take $1)
